PETALING JAYA, 1 May 2020: Students who are going for internship attachment should have a mindset to learn and not be afraid to make mistakes as they will pick up the skills much faster than just be too satisfied with knowledge of theory alone, according to Synthomer’s talent manager.

Speaking on the topic “Get in sync with Synthomer” at a virtual engagement programme, Mr. Ng Yat Seng, the Head of Talent Management for Synthomer with 20 years of working experience, advised students not to be satisfied with just knowing the theory, instead must be prepared to learn the job hands-on.

The programme was brought by IIUM’s Counselling and Career Services Centre (CCSC) in collaboration with Synthomer with the aim to provide exposure to IIUM graduates despite the current MCO.

Synthomer is a multinational company producing polymers with a business in safety, health and environment. The company still operates as usual during the MCO, but they have to abide by the regulations provided by the National Security Council.

Mr. Ng also shared in the session that students should polish up their communication skills during internship and should not be afraid to ask questions to their colleagues or supervisor as it is a great opportunity for them to learn on the job.

Synthomer offered two interesting programmes – one, the Asian graduate programme and the other, internship programme. Those interested to undergo internship with Synthomer may apply now as a few vacancies are available at the moment. For those keen in the Asian graduate programme they may apply this October for the fourth batch application.

The session was held on Monday (27 April) at 2:00 pm on website meet.google.com/eqr-rhzc-bxc.

The career talk ended with Q & A session from the audience.
