Twelve teams from Asian and African continents compete in International nations Futsal Championship

GOMBAK, 19 November 2019: The International nations Futsal Competition involving 12 teams was successfully held at IIUM Gombak campus here on Saturday (16 November).

Organised by Yemeni club in collaboration with Sudanese community, the sports event was participated by seven teams from Africa and five teams from the Asia continent.

Ammar Al-Yafei, the organiser of the tournament from the Yemeni club said, “The tournament aims to entertain and create a familiar environment that encourages students to come together despite their different cultures. Sports of all kinds are the best way to bring all nationalities together.”

Omar Saeed, the organiser of the tournament from Sudanese community said, “All the teams participating in the tournament represent teams of their countries.” He added, “The tournament aims to strengthen relationship among the various communities in campus.”

Omar further said, “This sports event is an opportunity to discover outstanding talents in football game so that we create one team in the near future to represent the Islamic University in the Foreign Championship Futsal.”

The International nation Futsal Championship 2019 observed that the Yemeni team won the first place followed by the Somali team as the runner up, while the third place went to the Egyptian team.***
