PROTÉGÉ: New hope for future graduates

GOMBAK 17 October 2019: The current economic situation which has led to a shrink in job vacancies and employment opportunities should trigger graduates to venture into start-up business of their own, head of PROTÉGÉ secretariat of United Motor Works (UMW), Madam Hajah Norah Norashikin Binti Haji Datuk Ismail said.

According to Hajah Norah, PROTÉGÉ  or Professional Training and Education for Growing Entrepreneurs, a training programme under UMW holdings, was aimed to provide assistance to new business startups for young entrepreneurs. “Potential graduates should see this as new hopes for job creation.”

“PROTÉGÉ  also provides sufficient training for business start-ups such as basic video editing to enhance advertising, ” she added.

She said, œHandphone is a very powerful tool, and some advertisements are shot using handphone, we can see it as an opportunity for the youth. If they can make use of their tool well, they can make money.

Norah Norashikin added that training programmes by institutions such as Institut Keusahawanan  Negara (INSKEN) and Tekun Nasional have been established to help youths become entrepreneurs.

She was addressing IIUM students in a sharing session held in conjunction with Career Fair ’19 on Wednesday (16 October) in campus here. ***
