Christchurch Terror Attack

A man prays at a memorial at Al Noor Mosque in Christchurch

The world is terribly devastated by the Christchurch massacre at two mosques in the New Zealand city that has taken at least 50 lives in the mass shooting last Friday (15 March).

This utterly odious and heinous terrorist attack against Muslim community is described as one of the darkest days in New Zealand as well as in Muslim history.

IIUMToday henceforth calls for everyone’s attention to have a moment of silence of al-Fatihah to pay respect for the victims, and express condolences towards the families affected by the horrific tragedy.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient. Who, when disaster strikes them, say, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”– al-Baqarah, 2:155-156.

Let us pray to Allah to place all victims amongst the best people in Jannah. Students on the other hand are reminded not to share any videos or photos related to the notorious attacks on any platform as a mark of respect for the family members of those who perished.

May all of us be protected by Allah. ***
