KUALA LUMPUR, 17 March 2019 – A fund raising project for special kids called “Educational Charity Project 19” has been initiated to assist the “Pertubuhan Pendidikan Islam Kanak-Kanak Kelainan Upaya Malaysia” (PI3KUM).
Organised by internship students from Communication Department, the project has a series of activities with special kids including fundraising, teaching sessions, and a charity dinner.
The teaching sessions held every Friday for six weeks has started on 8 March and will continue until 12 April at their school in Batu Caves, Selangor. The sessions include games, religion enhancement, training and performance, and art and handicraft. A charity dinner will be held 20 April as appreciation to the special kids, parents, and the teachers at PI3KUM.
PI3KUM is a non-profit organisation for special needs children that provides Islamic education and the school is located in Batu Caves. With 15 special kids and five teachers, the programme was aimed at creating awareness among the society on special kids and to raise money to get better facilities for the school.
Project manager for the programme, Muhammad Ridhaillah, stated that the committee has been doing fundraising at mosques and in public, and has been approaching individuals to raise money. Moreover, they do busk, sell foods and beverages, and sell shawls to support the project’s spending.
He added, œThis project will expose students’ awareness on special kids and teach students about special kids’ needs.
