GOMBAK, 5 October 2018: Regardless of backgrounds we need to provide justice in terms of our treatment to others, Dean of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), Prof. Dr. Mohammad A. Quayum said.

He told the audience this during the closing ceremony of the International Conference of Religion, Culture and Governance in Contemporary World 2018 (ICRCG 2018) yesterday (4 Oct) at Banquet Hall of Rectory Building, IIUM.

Despite never having had any personal experience in dealing with Islamophobia and racism post 9/11 when working in New York, he cited his friend’s experience in dealing with the issue in his workplace and how his friend fought back and eventually won as the case was brought to court.

He quoted Shakespeare’s words in his remarks, ”love all, trust a few, and do wrong to none”.

During the closing ceremony, certificates of participation were also given to the committee members who have worked hard in ensuring the conference went on smoothly. He also thanked the sponsors for their support.

Also attending the closing ceremony was the Minister of Education, Dr. Maszlee Malik, who is also the new President of IIUM. ***
