GOMBAK, 27 April 2018 – With Ramadan approaching, the Life Makers Malaysia (LMM) is gearing itself for a donation drive which started from 5 April and will continue until 10 May to collect a targeted amount of RM77, 000 following a campaign.
Programme Manager of Ramadan Aid 3.0, Nasreen Parker, said that the LMM will donate the money received through the donation drive to the Syrian refugees. “We are collaborating with Ghiras Al-Nahda, a non-governmental organisation based in Turkey, for this project,” she said.
The money will be used to help the Syrian refugees residing both in Klang Valley, Malaysia, and in Ghoutta, Syria, to buy food. At least 250 refugee families will receive the assistance.
Donations are welcome from all members of the IIUM community and they can make their contribution in the boxes placed at the entrance of IIUM Library or visit LMM booth near the Information and Technology Department (ITD) which will be open every Friday.
Those who have no access to these places can donate directly through LMM Maybank bank account (5642 2163 9062) with swift code: MBBEMYKL. Email to lifemakers.malaysia@gmail.com for PayPal payment.
The Ramadan Aid campaign is an annual event which started as Ramadan Aid 1.0 in 2016, and continued in 2017 as Ramadan Aid 2.0. The campaign raised RM45, 000.00 in 2016, and RM42, 000.00 in 2017.
