14th GE: Students get three days holidays to exercise their rights to vote

GOMBAK, 18 April 2018: In conjunction with the upcoming 14th General Election, the university authority has agreed to the request made by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) for students to be given three days holidays from 8 to 10 May.

The government has declared 9 May as a public holiday, thus the university has agreed to give students holidays on 8 and 10 May so that eligible voters from among the students could exercise their rights in the forthcoming general election.

This was recently announced by IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin. However, according to the Rector, the extra two days holidays only apply to the students.

Information on voters’ polling stations can be searched online through www.spr.gov.my and also by calling locally 03-8892 7018 or sending an SMS to 15888.***
