GOMBAK, 8 December 2017: The IIUM Sports Carnival 2017 or ISC’17 which commenced on 23 November ended last week (30 November) with a closing ceremony held at Sayyidina Hamzah Sports Complex. attended by fellows of Mahallah, lecturers and athletes
Eleven sports were offered to the athletes in their respective Mahallah. Sixteen mahallahs competed for the title in the overall championship. There were two categories – Brothers and Sisters.
Mahallah Zubair emerged as overall champion three times in a row. They dominated the medal tally with a total haul of six golds, three silvers and five bronzes in the Brother’s category. The Sister’s category went to Mahallah Ameenah with five golds, four silvers and four bronzes.
The theme of the closing ceremony was ‘Islamic Warrior’ which was portrayed and represented in the march parades where creativity of each mahallah was seen in fulfilling the theme, according to ISC’17 Assistant Programme Manager, Nur Syafiqah Halim,
There were also special performances from IIUM Fencing team, Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia Club IIUM, and a selawat and nasyid performance from ReUnion ( 2nd placed winner of IKBAR Nasyid Festival) to mark the celebration of Maulidur Rasul the next morning.
The event ended with an impressive display of fireworks. ***
