GOMBAK, 23 November 2017 – With the objective to imbue and improve public speaking skills, Bicara Siswa was held Tuesday night (21 November) at Main Auditorium A, IIUM Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE).
Organised by Rakan Muda Secretariat IIUMÂ in conjunction with the Rakan Muda Week, the event saw eight participants from various Kulliyyah taking part in the event.
Feedback received by the Secretariat towards this programme have been positive.
One participant, Sufiatul Aishah Binti Rashidi, told IIUMToday that this event should be continued in the future. This 21-year old Engineering student said that the event is a useful platform for students to polish up their skills in the public speaking.
She suggested for the promotion of this event to be made more impactful to attract more participants.
Meanwhile, one of the judges of the event, Zhilal Bin Adnan, 21, said, “This programme is unique because of it being conducted in a relaxing way. Â In fact, it benefits the audience since the language used by the participants was easy to understand and to catch attention of the students.”
The IIUM Malay debater also hoped that the programme would be continued in the future since it was considered a good platform for participants to deliver and discussed the topics in their own style.
The event’s programme manager, Nurul Fatnin Nawwal Binti Abdullah said, “If there’s any chance in the future, we will organise this event again, maybe something more different.”
Rakan Muda Week was organised by the Rakan Muda Secretariat of IIUM from 20 until 26 November, comprising various activities such as Bicara Siswa, Street Workout and Rakan Muda Fiesta. All IIUM students have been invited to the closing ceremony scheduled to be held at Main Auditorium A, Kulliyyah of Engineering on 26 November.***
