GOMBAK, 19 October 2017: The new office bearers of the IIUM Students Representative Council (SRC) for 2017/2018 session will collaborate with the students for the betterment of the university in moving towards achieving a global mindset, according to its President, Amir Ridwan Idris.
The SRC President acknowledged that the new Council has a big responsibility in fulfilling its role.
œI see this amanah given to me as a platform to do good deeds for the sake of Allah and I believe that each of us has his or her own respective medium to do so according to our specialties and abilities, Amir Ridwan told IIUMToday.
According to Amir Ridwan, IIUM has a big potential in the midst of globalisation, in line with the ˜Internationalisation value of the IIUM Triple ICE mission. Therefore, SRC will put its best efforts in ensuring its initiatives will encompass national and global significance in facilitating the students to adopt a global mindset.
œWe envision that IIUM would be a great university similar to the likes of Harvard and Oxford,” he said in a speech after being elected to the post.
The new line-up as follows was announced following a syura with the IIUM Election Commission last Friday night (13 October):

-Â Â Â Vice President (Local): Raudhatul Jannah Binti Mohd Rozli (KIRKHS)
-Â Â Â Vice President (International): Ahmed Abdurrahman Nkoba (KENMS)
-Â Â Â Secretary: Abdul Aziz Abd Rashid (KOE)
-Â Â Â Treasurer: Maziah Hasan (KOE)
Meanwhile, through her status on Instagram, the new Vice President, Raudhatul Jannah Mohd Rozli, encouraged the students to join their mission: œLet’s strive and work together for the overall betterment of the students, kulliyyah, university and ummah!
Many students interviewed believe that the new line-up would gain the trust and confidence of IIUM students.
œLet us unite and assist SRC in giving their best to realise the noble intention of university as the Garden of Knowledge and Virtue, said Noor Azilah Ahmad from KIRKHS.
Former President of the previous tenure of SRC, Amirul Hisham Abdul Rahman, has his own advice for the current SRC line-up.
He said: œMy advice to our successors is for all of you to give your very best and to always be concerned with the welfare of the students.”
With the motto “Together, Ascending Further (TAF)”, the seven missions of SRC have been successfully applied in the university and it proved the credibility of SRC in leadership.
For example, the seven missions which included Spirituality, Integration and Inclusiveness, Professionalism, Welfare, Intellectualism, Social Responsibility and Internationalisation, were successfully displayed at the community service at Cambodia and Indonesia.
The SRC Election that took place in the three university campuses last Thursday (12 October) recorded 58 per cent of voter turnout and the full list of the winners for each constituency was announced on 11.20 pm at Experimental Hall in Gombak campus on the same day.
Although the voter turnout slightly increased over the previous year, this election has its own value due to the integration between national and international constituency through more than 100 societies which attempted to inculcate universal mindset.
œWe need to simply believe in ourselves and continue our work towards building this university together, Amir Ridwan spoke to the students earlier after the SRC election result was announced.
SRC is a representative organisation for students throughout one session which will be concerned with the university and student issues.
The new Council will hold another meeting next week specifically to discuss the portfolios and the Executive Council selection for every secretariat and will keep the students updated.
