Whenever I am bored, I will be cruising the YouTube sites watching video after video. One of the frequent YouTube channels I usually watched is The Real Daytime, a talk show led by four individual public figures. While cruising the random videos, I found this one particular statement from one of the hosts, Jeannie Mai.
Jeannie Mai expressed that it only takes one person to recognise your lights and see your worth. By having that recognition, it will automatically help us in realising our worth. It also helps us to fully utilise our deep potential within.
Looking back reminiscing, I remembered one particular incident during my first semester in my Foundation year. For one particular subject, we were required to present a persuasive speech with a partner and our theme is œSuperstitious.
On the night of the presentation leading to my turn, I was nervous. My hands were clammy and shaking at its best. Suddenly when it was my turn, the whole classroom went dark. It turned out that one of my classmates turned off the light and indirectly helped to set the tone. My nervous was gone and instantly I have my confidence boosted. At the end of the night, I did great.
Whenever I looked back to that moment, the statement is indeed realistically true. The action taken by my friend gave me the confidence boost that I needed and it helped me immensely. Indirectly, it helped me realise that our action indeed has an impact on other people whether we did it intentionally or unintentionally.
It is what people called butterfly effects. Butterfly effects is defined as the flutters of the butterfly wings flap at the right time and at the right moment, it will cause changes in its surroundings. Besides that, I also reminisced the time when I was working as a part-timer in a fast food restaurant as I interacted with many people daily. During that time, I realised that whenever a nice customer came around and said nice things, it would make my day. It also happened when I gave my best in providing my services; it helped to make their lives better. It is an easy trade.
Unfortunately, not everyone will always have a positive impact on your lives. Some people will test you to the limit, questioning and doubting you at every step along the way. They even go to the extent of knocking you down rather than building you up. It is to believe that the reasons behind are that they do not feel secured about themselves.
Living life in that way could be harmful not just to our physical state but also to our mental state and it is better for us to avoid in any way possible to become that kind of person. Thus, it is only fair for us not to become the person that we are so against of becoming.
However, it is not as easy as it sounds as living a life has its own difficulties, especially when we are striving to become a better person as we will be tested in new circumstances. We are the one in charge for our own actions and lives. Thus, it helps to know that if we stick to become a positive person who radiates light and happiness to ourself and upon others, eventually we will be that kind of person. At the end of the day, we can help change the world little by little just by changing ourself. ***
