GOMBAK, 16 February 2017: A self-improvement programme organised by the Counselling and Career Service Centre called œThe Power Within You was held on 14 February 2017 (Tuesday) at the Mini Auditorium designed to make students understand their own emotions and to find out their capacity to succeed.
œEveryone has a tendency to be a hero, but you got to understand your capacity, Faeez Zakaria from Public Service Department’s psychology management told the audience.
He said that emotion is an important aspect for a human being where “to obtain emotional power, students must be informed of the source of emotion that comes from”.
The source of power, according to him, has influenced us a lot in life which mainly comes from family, self, career, friends, and money.
He added that it is also important for the students to be aware of their emotional power. The students must also understand what happened inside their body psychologically and be able to understand inside others too.
He explained further, “This is a situation what we called self-awareness where we should comprehend our own emotion first, then we try to comprehend others’ emotion. Therefore, as students you begin to learn, compromise, and deal with something properly.”
Faeez Zakaria shared his thought on how to improve one’s emotion. He said “you have to communicate with other people and be able to express your feeling”.
This means that we as human beings “cannot afford to stay alone”, but “must know how to deliver our feeling and emotion very well”.
œThats why you have to practise sharing your emotions. We have counsellors and psychologists. We have teachers, we have peer groups, it’s all about sharing, he added.
The programme œThe Power Within You has brought students on how to recognise themselves in part of emotion. It received good feedback when the audiences gave their response throughout the programme. ***
