Students have their own way to study. Some prefer to study alone or some would study in group. It’s entirely their choice. Since the final examination is just around the corner, Naimah Sazaki, who has been in the Dean’s list for the fourth time in a row shared the following tips on how she managed to score good results in her studies:
1) Understand what you study, do not just memorise
It is easier to elaborate and connect one chapter with another. Relate it with something you understand (like your experiences) so remembering is a natural thing. Some questions require you to think critically and link one chapter with another, understanding what you read is the easiest way to know what to write.
2) Make personal notes
It does not matter if it is mind mapping or short notes, as long as it summarises the topic and you can understand and remember. Neat notes are important so you will not confuse about the items under the topic. Remember, do not be scared to use bold colour of pens or to write in bilingual if you have to.
3) Study on your own before studying with a group of people.
Know what you do not understand before asking people for help. It is  easier to know where are your weaknesses. Some people do not have much time to explain the whole book in a few hours.
Naimah said, “I would only join a study group if everyone in the group has studied. And I prefer studying with people who do not talk about their personal life or gossip when studying.”
4) Teach other people
The more you teach the more you’ll remember. Help other people as much as you can especially if you have studied. Other than that, by teaching others, it can help you to enhance your memorisation skills and understanding about that topic.
5) Remember the price of your education
Do not waste your time and money in to repeat a subject or constantly getting merely a pass. Education is pricey and you or your parents are paying for it. Make sure the money is well spent.
Last but not least, Naimah also reminded the students to perform Solat Hajat before taking the exams.
“After putting all your effort, pray to Allah you can remember and understand what you have studied. After finishing your paper, leave the rest to Allah because He is the best planner and believe that He will give you what you truly deserve.” ***
