Today, employers tend to recruit students and employees who had done not only one internship but multiple internships. University education serves and helps students into their degree programme which covers academic proficiencies both in theory and practice. Internship will make the classroom theories be applied and practiced in real work situation with actual professional task.
As internship becomes a key in economic importance, therefore graduating students with paid and unpaid internship will get more chances to be in a full-time position upon graduating. Not only that, students will also gain more experiences related to their self-confidence, self-esteem and self-motivation and this internship experiences will be written on resume as their professional experiences acquired in working life.
Internship also can provide students with experience which can help them to narrow down their career search and focus on areas that they are interested in. Some of the courses are not provided credit for internship and do not require students to do internship. Therefore, students have a choice whether to be in class and earn credit for that or drop the class and do internship for the sake of the experience alone. Students invest their internship process in finding a suitable organisation and period of the confirmation process before they go for internship. The employers are aware of this investment that students choose and this becomes a reason that they expect students to do an internship for credit instead of just for experience sake without fulfilling any academic requirements.
Many of the interns have chances to develop into full-time employment and this becomes one of the best rewards of an internship. However, this reward will be given by the employers based on hard work and skills. The company ororganisation will select interns who can give the return investments to the company.
Besides that, by doing internship students will be introduced to the field culture and etiquette. Especially those who work by meeting a lot of clients and people and the need top observe certain dress codes, title to address clients and many more. Students will be learn many things throughout their internship either directly or indirectly based on situation or environment. ***
