Colours and cultures at Indonesian Day closing ceremony

GOMBAK, 3 October 2016 – Indonesia Students Association of International Islamic University Malaysia (PPI- IIUM) organised the closing ceremony of Indonesian Day 2016 at Experimental Hall yesterday (2 October) filled with rich colours and diversity of cultures.

This Indonesia Day celebrations which started on 26 September involved many activities such as opening ceremony, Nusantara Carnival and PPI Got Talent.

The closing ceremony was held with colourful cultural performances by Indonesian students. The performance started with acoustic band performance by Sanggar Khatutlistiwa and proceeded with fashions show by Panorogo-Javanese culture, Minagkabau and Dayak.

The culture night performance ended with heart-warming drama performance by the students.

The event’s programme manager, Romi Hamfrisa, said, “Since the theme of this event is ‘Rumah Kita’ which brought the meaning to externalised Indonesia, the objectives of this event were to promote Indonesia to our friends. Other than that, we want to introduce various cultures from Indonesia. As a result, the other international students will get to know that Indonesia has this kind of culture.”

One member of the audiences of this event, Mohamad Solahudin said,”This event is absolutely awesome as it showed the diversity of cultures and we as IIUM students need to know about this. I hope in the future, students from the other countries will do this kind of event.”

On the other hand, Mohammed Abdullah from Yemen said, “My opinion about this celebration of Indonesia Day was awesome, great and very nice. I love it.”

The closing ceremony was launched by the advisor of PPI-IIUM, Prof. Dr. Erry Adesta. ***
