GOMBAK, 29 September 2016: Regarding the all time ‘favourite problem’, the Wifi problem, there have been an illegal LAN created by irresponsible people for self interest that may interrupt the Wifi signal, the IIUM campus was alerted.
The worst of the problem, however, that could happen is the router dysfunction because it takes RM4,000 to replace with the new router and for making it done it might take some times, according to Information and Technology Department (ITD) sources.
Students are therefore advised to lodge a report to the right channel which are at the Mahallah Office or at the Information & Technology Department (ITD) for further check by the technicians.
There is nothing they can do if students do not lodge a report to the right channel because they need to know the location of where the problem occurs in order to figure out what is causing the problem.
The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) spokesperson said that this is a collective problem involving all citizens of IIUM to take part to make sure this problem can be solved accordingly.
“ITD also had to deal with third party which is the cable wires supplier, so blaming ITD is not going to solve the problem,” he added.
“The first thing to do in solving this problem is that students need to lodge the right report at the right channel which is either at the Mahallah office or at ITD itself. Further action will be taken later by ITD.” ***
