GOMBAK, 18 May 2016: The Department of Communication has organised a three-day event from 13 to 15 May involving more than 70 volunteers comprising lecturers, staff and students, to give a new look to all the Communication labs located at Level 1, Human Science Building, and to provide a more conducive ambiance for learning.
According to the Department’s Head, Dr. Zeti Azreen Ahmad, the “Communication Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Day was aimed at nurturing the spirit of volunteerism among students. Through this initiative students would learn several ways to demonstrate their good deeds. We hope this activity would inspire them to do more and to make a positive impact on society.”
During the CSR event, lecturers and students were working hand in hand to give a new look to the Communication labs. This event also helped in creating greater bonding between the lecturers and students as participants were divided into teams consisting of lecturers and students.
The CSR event also succeeded in enhancing closer relationship between members of the four branches of student activities within the Department: IIUMToday, IIUM.fm, Communication Students Association (COSA) and the Institute of Public Relations Student Association (IPRMSA)-IIUM Chapter. All of the members of the respective branches have worked together to paint the walls of the labs.
The labs were painted in a Buttercream Yellow to replace the old classic white colour. The newly painted labs helped to bring about more cheerful look than before.
The IIUMToday newsroom and IIUM.fm studio have also been painted with a new look, designed by Madam Nur Nadia Abdul Mubin.***
