Finding ‘halal’ food in Beijing

Beijing is unarguably one of the most visited places in the world. Every year millions of people come to Beijing to see the capital of China. However, Muslim tourists need to know where they can find halal food in Beijing.

If you are a Muslim visitor on a Beijing tour, you need to find halal food restaurants in Beijing. There are over 2,000 halal options in small eateries, mid-range and upmarket halal restaurants. These Muslim restaurants adhere to a full halal menu that does not serve pork and does not serve alcohol.

By the œmost popular halal food restaurants, we refer to those halal food restaurants that dont just offer good halal food, but also have the good atmosphere, affordable prices and good customer services as well. In Beijing and elsewhere in China, halal food is also known as Hui cuisine and Xinjiang food. And most of Hui cuisine and Xinjiang food are around NiuJie Mosque.

The Niujie Mosque is the oldest mosque in Beijing. The mosque is located in Niujie area of Beijings Xicheng District. There are three famous restaurants in Xicheng District.

1. Jubaoyuan 聚宝源

Brief Introduction:
Jubaoyuan is one of the oldest halal restaurants on Niujie Street, the biggest Muslim community in Beijing. Jubaoyuan is well known for its fresh beef, hand-cut mutton slices, baked sesame seed coated cakes and delicious sesame dipping sauce, as well as its affordable prices.
Remark: You have to book your seats in advance.

2. Hong Bin Lou 鸿宾楼

Location: No.11, Zhanlanguan Road, Xicheng District
Bus Route: 15, 814, 709, 708 (get off at Baiwanzhuang Dongkou Stop)

Brief introduction:
Opened in 1853, this restaurant has enjoyed a good reputation for over 150 years. It is praised as the best Muslim restaurant in Beijing by gourmets. The restaurant occupies an area of 2,000 square meters (0.5 acres) and it has accommodated many honoured guests from home and abroad, including the former British Primer Minister, Edward Heath. There are hundreds of genuine Muslim table delicacies offered here, all waiting for you to enjoy.

3, Silk Road Impression Xinjiang Restaurant 丝绸印象

Address: Floor 1, Heaven and Peace Commercial Building, 17 Hepingli Middle Street, Dongcheng District (东城区和平里中街17号天元和平商业大厦1楼)
Transportation: Take Subway Line 5, get off at Hepinglibei Street, and go out from Exit C

Brief introduction:
The restaurant has the same name as the Silk Road, which played a significant role in trading between China and other Asian countries during ancient times. As its name implies, the restaurant primarily offers tasty and fragrant food with Xinjiang special cuisine. In addition to its dishes, the clean and tidy restaurant provides a pleasant atmosphere by integrating western region culture with modern fashion and excellent service.
