GOMBAK, 28 November 2015: An inspirational talk for some 93 orphans from five orphanages in Gombak and one from Kedah was recently held at Mini Auditorium IIUM organised by the Caring Club to help improve their self-esteem and expose them to the outside world.
Among the orphanages that took part in the programme were Rumah Penyayang Iman, Titian Kasih, Permata Hati, Rumah Raudhatul Al- Faeez, Rumah Anak Yatim Nur Qaseh, and Al- Hidayah, according to the Club.
The inspirational talk was a sub-programme under a department called Sayang named as Caring Holiday Attack.
Apart from this event, the Caring Club has held programmes such as Caring Art Attack, Orphans Explorace and Caring Grand Charity Dinner. These programmes are categorised as annual events.
œTheres no one who can anticipate the future. However, it does not mean that we cannot have a dream, Wan Ashmirullah Wan Abdullah, the speaker for the event, told the participants. Wan Ashmirullah was the former counsellor of IIUM and now a businessman.
The event started with a recitation of doa. Wan Ashmirullah then began with a warming up session called Expression Learning calling on the children to have some fun with the introduction activity.
The second activity was more practical in nature when the speaker asked the children to jot down and write what their dreams were. Then, the children were required to share their dreams with people beside them.
The objective of this activity was to encourage the participants to make the dream into reality which coincides with Islamic teaching that is to believe and carry out what we intend to achieve. The activity ended when the speaker asking the children to list down the characteristics of successful people.
He said it was important that they should have in themselves a dream, a good planning, strong faith, positive attitude and lastly to work for it and make it become a reality.
He expressed the hope that the children knew that they were not alone in this world although they have lost their parents.
“We do hope that they are passionate and would work to achieve their goal,” Wan Ashmirullah added. ****
