œWe are the nutritious health and balance as our mission is to bring good food, good life for all.” Nestle (Malaysia) has gained its Halal certificate since 1994.
Engaging the industrial sector to collaborate in research and development helps strengthen both the academia and the industry as well as contribute towards propelling growth of Malaysia’s national economy. The CEO talk is along the policy encouraged by the Ministry of Higher Education to prepare students and future graduates to meet the expectations of the industry.
In his talk, Alois also emphasised that Nestle provides scholarship as well as internship opportunity for university students.
œNestle has a programme where every year we give scholarships for certain number of students and it is not bound to any university. He claimed that the scholarships are meant for various fields of studies.
“Nestle is quite open in taking students for internship with them,” he said. œIn Nestle, there are a lot of opportunities and we are very happy to take good students to maintain our quality, and it depends on how good people are.
According to Alois, quality is the thing being counted by Nestle. He said, “We are happy to cooperate in many areas not only in halal food but also in the production process.
Present during the talk was the university’s Rector Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin. In her welcoming address she told the audience of the university’s concern on the expectations of the industry and for graduates to be able to keep up with the market needs.
œWe are here nurturing khalifah, along with the development of technology,” she said. IIUM takes a step of a thousand miles by inviting well established company heads to this programme.
œWe play an active role by research developing its potentials to boost nation’s growth, but the result is yet to reach the standard that we expect to achieve, she said. One of the problems is that some Kulliyyah are not providing their students with internship programme.
œInternships should be for all students. Thus, IIUM looks forward for cooperation with Nestle. Through this programme, we are expecting a fruitful engagement with the industry,” she added. ***
