Parents, according to the deputy health minister, are increasingly opting out of the vaccination regime for their children. In 2013, less than 500 parents refused vaccination, and the number increased to almost 1,300 cases in 2014. For this year, up to May, the number is already at 1,054. This trend is linked to the increase in incidence of measles, tetanus and whooping cough; diseases easily kept in check if children were vaccinated, as in the past.
