IIUM MUN to Singapore in June

GOMBAK, 16 May 2015: The IIUM Module United Nations (MUN) Club will be sending their new team to participate in the upcoming MUN Conference in Singapore, which will be hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) on 8 June 2015.

Secretary General of IIUM MUN Club, Waheedur Rahman said, “After the success we have had by receiving best delegation awards at the Monash MUN, Taylor’s MUN and Nanyang Technology University, we are sending six members to the Singapore MUN, which is considered one of the most prestigious MUN in this region.”

It is expected that the team will be exposed to a high quality debate and a very competitive environment since NUS is ranked as one of the top universities in the world.

The conference will be held for five days, and among the councils that will be representing IIUM MUN Club are the International Court of Justice (ICJ), UN Developmental Programme (UNDP) representing Venezuela and the Disarmament and the International Security Committee (DISEC) representing Venezuela as well.

The IIUM MUN Club was officially launched by former President of the United Nations General Assembly, Tan Sri Razali Ismail, on 12 February 2015 during a talk entitled “Diplomacy in Modern Global Politics: Finding A Solution”.

The Club has received several awards from their previous conferences, during the Nottingham Module UN 2015 Conference where it won 7 awards of which four were for best delegations; during the Asia Pacific Module UN Inaugural Conference 2015 where it received three honourable mentions, and during the Nanyang Technology University Module UN 2015 where it won three awards. ***
