GOMBAK, 26 November 2014:. Global Ummatic Week which began on 22 November, is one of IIUM’s special annual events. The organiser known as ‘The Ummah We Stand’ has put a massive effort to make it one of the successful events of the year. They have provided variety of mini events and one of the most-waited-list for everyone is  “Food  Festival”  that features more than 10 different countries with an array of food as well as a variety of apparel, decor and art craft.Â
The atmosphere was lively and bustling with people walking about the food stalls and queuing up for food. There were so many kinds of dessert and pastries like brownies from America, Turkey ice cream in a cone, Kimchi from Korea and kerabu mee by the Philippines that look really appetising.
Some of the food cost more than what it should take. For example, Nachos that has been sold for RM10.00 per box. All Malaysian kuih are just too over priced. But it’s okay, may be that is one of the ways to get the reputation during Global Ummatic Week.
By the way, the organiser will be giving out free food on Thursday, 27 November, at the centre at around 12.30 pm. That is going to be a very long queue as experienced last year as IIUM students are not going to miss out free food from international students.
Overall, the Food Fest has a great selection of food but can be improved in terms of place and  price. Perhaps they can hold it in a bigger venue with ample space in the near future that won’t disrupt those who are going to the mosque for Zuhr prayers especially.
