GOMBAK, 13 May 2023: In conjunction with the Communication Festival 2023, a talk on Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship was held as a way to promote creative digital advertising on 8 May (Monday) at the Human Sciences Square, IIUM.
The invited speaker was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Mokhtar from the Department of Communication, AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) who emphasised on the importance of digital marketing.
She stated that digital marketing is crucial in gaining audiences from various platforms and attracting people of different age groups.
“Digital marketing has become more popular especially during COVID-19 as online purchasing has increased rapidly and businesses are changing their marketing model to suit the current circumstances,” she shared.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida further expressed the great importance of promoting goods and services with unique approaches and striving to be ‘one in a million’.
“One of the ways to promote businesses products is by using Augmented Reality (AR) technology in marketing communication plans as it allows potential customers to experience their products virtually especially in the cosmetics and fashion industries,” she highlighted.
Other digital marketing tools mentioned were Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence through applications, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Internet of Things (IoT) and block chain.
“Companies should be able to identify and create masterplans based on the 4Ps (Product, Price, Promotion, and Place) of marketing in order to successfully market a product or service,” she stated.
“In order to pursue greater opportunities in entrepreneurship, one must be equipped with sufficient knowledge of digital marketing and have sufficient knowledge of technology,” she concluded.
