Walk-ins allowed for COVID-19 vaccination booster shots

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 November 2021: Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin announced that the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force Booster (CITF-B) would open walk-in registration of COVID-19 booster shots starting from Monday (22 November).

Those eligible for the booster shot may walk-in or contact any private vaccination centre (PPV) to be on the waiting list. This allows any individual to receive their booster shot without waiting for a longer time.

In a tweet last week, Khairy emphasised that the booster dose is safe and effective to maximise the level of protection against the virus.

“For Sinovac recipients, a Pfizer booster is the best choice to increase your level of protection. Many who already qualify for the booster are waiting for a Sinovac booster to be approved. Dont wait. Take the Pfizer booster that is being offered. Its very effective and safe,” he tweeted.

As of now, the booster shots are being administered with priority given to frontliners, individuals aged 18 and above with comorbidities, individuals aged 40 and above, long-term healthcare workers, pregnant mothers and those who will be travelling overseas.

The public may refer to www.protecthealth.com.my starting from 22 November to list PPVs that provide walk-in registration of the booster dose.

To date, the total cumulative booster doses administered nationwide is 1,042,234 doses.

The booster dose had begun nationwide last month for fully vaccinated individuals to ensure that the community can achieve immunisation for a more extended period of time.***
