GOMBAK, 18 October 2020: The experience of being in an association teaches students to be more enthusiastic especially when they are really passionate and become part of their association.
This situation can be related through the forum titled ‘Students: Following The Path VS Creating A New Path’ that was held live online.
“As students, we have limited time which is only four years, always ask yourself about the biggest reason in joining an association and do something about it,” said one of the panellists.
The panelists, High Cadet Officer of Kor Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (SISPA) IIUM, Muhammad Adib Bin Thalib and the President of Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM) IIUM, Muhammad Hakimi bin Abdul Hadi hold responsible position in their respective society.
Muhammad Adib said that “as we still hold the status of a student, we are limited in doing any extreme activity”. “At the same time, outdoor activities also can be related to the things that we learn in our class.”
Meanwhile, according to Muhammad Hakimi, the association that we joined is the best for us. He also shared three things to remember when we are looking for an association – the intention of joining the association, the management of our time, and the passion to give a 100 per cent commitment to the association.
Muhammad ‘Ali who also the leader of Kompeni 4 of SISPA IIUM shared his experience in an emergency incident that happened to him a few days ago. “There was a big fire at the place where I cooked for the poor students in an event, I eventually used my experience in SISPA, using a wet cloth to suffocate the oxygen that happened in the flame,” he said.
The forum, held on Saturday (17 October) on Google Meet from 9.00 p.m until 11.00 p.m, was organised by Civil Defence Club (CDC) IIUM with the collaboration of PKPIM IIUM and PEPIAS. It was moderated by the Chairman of Relations of Persatuan Pelajar Islam Selangor Darul Ehsan (PEPIAS) Gombak branch, Muhammad ‘Ali Al-Husaini bin Kamaruddin.
The forum was attended by members from PKPIM IIUM, PEPIAS and SISPA IIUM. The adjutant of Kor SISPA IIUM, Mejar Bersekutu (PA) Roestam Effendi Bin Sijar also attended the forum. ***
