Department of Communication welcomes guests from Turkey

GOMBAK, 18 November 2016: Academicians from Turkey who visited the Department of Communication today were impressed with students’ portal IIUMToday and campus radio IIUM.fm when they were taken on a tour of the Department and briefed on the facilities to provide learning skills for its students.

The delegation comprised Prof. Dr. Haluk Songur, Dean of Faculty of Law and General Director of International Office, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Erdem, Dean of Faculty of Communication and research assistant Adem Ali İren from Süleyman Demirel University. The briefing on IIUM radio was given by Dr. Harmi Taazim Mohamad.

During the visit to IIUMToday newsroom members of the delegation were informed on the organisation of the student news portal and its daily operations by the students which received advice and directions from the lecturer in charged. They also visited the graphic lab and other parts of the department.

In an interview following the visit, Prof. Dr. Haluk Songur shared with us: “I studied at an Islamic University in Pakistan, but in here, I saw more enhanced and more developed facilities. As general director of the International Office of Süleyman Demirel University, our goal is to improve our relations especially with Muslim countries.”

The professor hoped that his university could establish some kind of cooperation between both universities in the future.

At the end of the tour, the delegation took pictures together with Communication students. ***
