Setting the KPI for “akhirah”

By Wan Ahmad Khairi

In order to achieve something in our life we need to have specific target and strategies to achieve it. The target that we set can help us to be more productive as an individual in the society. A tool of measurement is important to know whether we make an improvement or not throughout our life as a Muslim.

The Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is the best method to measure performances, according to experts. Due to that in order to be a successful Muslim in the hereafter we also need to have specific ways to measure our performance using Key Performance Indicator for Akhirah (KPIA) as an example. Religious scholars seem to think that we must set a certain KPI for the akhirah.

We need to set how many pages of al-Quran that we want to recite in a day, how many selawat that we want to recite in a day, how many good deeds we want to do in a day, how many times we want to spread salam in a day and any type of other good deed we can do. By putting this effort and practice it in our daily life, we can strengthen our belief as a Muslim and build a good relationship with our creator.

Other than that, to build a good rapport in our performances we must give full commitment to what we already planned. It is very important to be disciplined with what we have decided so that everything goes smoothly. In addition, we must compete with others in doing something good. That’s how we hope we can achieve the target we set up in KPIA.***
