GOMBAK, 13 March 2015: The Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS) has been in existence in IIUM for 25 years. This year, the Kulliyyah is celebrating its 25th anniversary and its launching took place in IIUM today during the 2nd International Conference of the Quran And Sunnah (ICQS 2).
ICQS 2 started from 13 to 14 March 2015 where the first day was held at Senate Hall here while the second day of the conference would take place at Hotel Renaissance. This conference was organised by the Department of Qur’an and Sunnah Studies (QSD), KIRKHS.
The launching was held at Senate Hall and a speech was given by Deputy Rector (Internationalisation & Industry and Community Relations), Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout. In his speech the Deputy Rector highlighted the importance of Islamisation of Human Science subjects, the faculties and also ICQS 2 as those were among the greatest achievement of KIRKHS ever made for 25 years.
The conference was to gather all the organisations related with Quran and Sunnah to discuss the current issues that had happened to the Muslim world. This year the Conference was under the theme “Revelation and Science in the 21st Century”. This conference was attended by many VIPs, one of them was Chairman from Al Qaradawi Centre For Islamic Moderation and Renewal, Qatar, Prof. Dr. Mohd Khalifa Hassan.
The objective of the conference is to explore the areas in social and natural sciences that might be in need to be reshaped on the basis of revelation, and to identify Quranic statements on natural sciences with a view to substantiating inimitability of the Quran and tracing in the Quran and Sunnah the basic principles for social and natural sciences so as to make these sciences boon, and not bane, for humanity.
The opening ceremony was handled by the Head Department of Quran and Sunnah, Dr. Mohd Shah Jani, and Dean of KIRKHS, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Mohd Zein.
There were many issues presented at the conference and one of them is Islamisation of all branches of human knowledge. Most of the presenters were representing their topic in the Arabic language for the respect of all participants and representing the achievement of KIRKHS in 25 years.***
