GOMBAK, 9 March 2015: A group of Economics students of IIUM calling themselves Uni Massa had organised an intellectual discourse at the Economics cafe yesterday.
For this time, they have chosen to discuss a book by George Orwell entitled Animal Farm presented by Ashraf Azhar.
œWe are open to all kinds of discussion and is not bound by any specific themes and title. We also provide handouts to ensure a more effective discussion, said the programme manager of Uni Massa, Amru Khalid.
He said that these intellectual discourses are conducted by four students. They are Afifah Syahirah for documentary, Hilman Fikri for research and development, Zayd Husman for public relations and he himself in charge of the media.
One of the participants, Mohd Fahmi Ahmad Kashfi said: œI have attended this discussion many times. They usually discuss the current issues and also talk about books. For Animal Farm, I feel it is important for students to read it first before coming to the discussion.”
œWe can get something new beyond the teaching in the class. Uni Massa is the opportunity for students to voice out their thoughts and share the ideas, added Mohd Hafizul Faiz, a third year Bachelor of Arabic student.
Uni Massa is held every Monday at 5:30 p.m at the Economics cafe. All students are invited. For further details and latest updates of Uni Massa, students can refer to the Uni Massa Facebook Fan page.***
