GOMBAK, 15 August 2022: Muhammad Sabirrin Bin Md Zahar, a Best Student (Co-Curricular) from the Department of Biomedical Science, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS), in his valedictorian speech delivered at IIUM’s 37th Convocation reminded the audience that uncertainty can be overcome by putting all your faith and trust in God.

As the representative of the Department of Biomedical Science, he began his speech by reviewing his journey along with his coursemates, as they shifted from conventional learning to virtual learning due the global pandemic COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has constantly brought uncertainty to the majority of the graduands as they were unable to further their industrial training physically and were frequently being told that they had poor job prospects as they were the products of online learning.

“So many setbacks and hurdles but none of them would be able to shatter our spirit and motivation but instead we need to craft and develop a new version of ourselves with resilience, adaptability, and determination,” he said.

He continued, “My fellow graduands, even though today we managed to successfully complete one of the many chapters in our life, remember we still have a long way to go. I cannot show you that life after this is going to be a smooth sailing journey, as there will always be turbulence and hurdles, here and there. Even now, we are still unsure about everything, let alone what the future will hold for us.”

He asserted that we should always put our utmost trust in Allah S.W.T as He is the sustainer and He is the best of planners. He further recited verse 286 from Surah Al-Baqarah to prove that Allah will never burden anyone beyond his/her limitations.

He highlighted that there will be absolutely no difficulty to achieve our goals as long as we remain faithful to Allah S.W.T.

“But let us not be forgetful of all the values this varsity has inculcated in us,” he continued.

He reminded all of the graduands to carry with them the virtues that they have learned in IIUM by showing good conduct in whatever they are doing and pursuing.

He ended his speech by acknowledging the support system provided by his parents, lecturers, and batchmates, which have moulded him into a better person.

“There is no use of success in life without His blessings, there is no use of pursuing worldly matters if you become neglectful in attaining the eternal goal of divine pleasure,” the final quote he shared from his parents before he ended his speech. ***
