IT is that time of year again. The balik kampung rush is on as Hari Raya Aidilfitri approaches. The capital is gradually being emptied, at least for a short time. Those not going anywhere for the festive season sigh with relief, a few days of true bliss: no traffic jams; no office to rush to; and, simply socialising with family and friends. The few idyllic moments that regularly return to breathe new sanity into the victim of the rat race. Unfortunately, those who have left Kuala Lumpur to its natives to enjoy the peace and quiet, have all joined the exodus to the land of their ancestry, better than any promised land. The stress caused by the slow crawl to wherever is alleviated by these thoughts of spending time being doted upon by parents and other family members, and recalling happy childhood memories of careless abandon.
