GOMBAK 25 August 2014: The Sector Focused Career Fair (SFCF) will be held in Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) from today until tomorrow to address the availability of talent in line with the needs of the country’s economic transformation as well as to attract and facilitate global talent and build networks among those talents. The event is organised by UNITEN in collaboration with TalentCorp Malaysia.
TalentCorp Malaysia is one of the leading Malaysian talent developers in the country whose main initiatives are to enhance the employability of graduates and optimise Malaysian talent by organising various Sector Focused Career Fairs. This program is run through collaboration between TalentCorp as well as several institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. It acts as a bridge to connect industries and universities in Malaysia in order to create awareness among undergraduates about the working environment and opportunities available to them out there.
SFCF is different from other career fairs as it is more focused on the sectors highlighted in the 11 NKEAs namely; Oil & Gas, Electric & Electronics, IT, Telecommunication, Biotechnology, Finance, Accountancy, Healthcare, Tourism and FMCG. This initiative was started in 2012 in collaboration with International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Sunway University and Multimedia University (MMU).
The SFCF this week will be focusing on Engineering, Business and IT. However, it is open to all undergraduate students because the companies will also be hiring graduates from various backgrounds. There will be a total of 46 companies participating at the SFCF in UniTEN.
Those wishing to participate in the fair will be treated to programmes such as speed interview where companies will do a five- minute assessment on how participants present themselves. Other programmes include Internship Market Day whereby students may bring their resume to a company in search for internship opportunities in order to gain valuable experience of the knowledge and skills required to enter into a particular field.
