Mahallah Sumayyah brings Joy to Pusat Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan MAIS

Gombak, 26 December 2024: Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan MAIS on 26 October 2024 with twelve committees and two fellows went on a two-hour trip from IIUM Gombak to Sabak Bernam, the foundation of the visit was to engage residents through a series of uplifting and stimulating activities designed to foster connection, support and expose them to the new nature of learning – stress free and full of laughter! 

This was the fourth time Mahallah Sumayyah had organized visits with such nature with last year’s venue being Asrama Bahagia. The program manager this time around had highlighted that the residents of Pusat Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan held intrinsic value, potential and capabilities of transformation despites their challenges and circumstances. 

The program – From Batter to Better: Baking Motivation – began with the opening ceremony graced by Puan Baizura, the representative of Pusat Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan warmly welcomed Mahallah Sumayyah to their abode. The program then proceeded with a motivational talk given by an IIUM alumni, who is now practicing as a lawyer, Sr. Noor Zurawati Ishak. She had shared stories of resilience and empowerment with the residents of Baitul Ehsan. She had emphasized that she wanted the residents to love, respect and appreciate themselves.

Handmade muffin by residents and committees

After the inspiring talk, a baking session led by Syahmeen, currently a fourth-year AIKOL student, was conducted. The residents and committees had collaborated to create a scrumptious treat – Chocolate Chip Muffin. The show of teamwork from whisking the ingredients to creatively decorating the muffin was such a sight to be remembered. 

Highlighting the visit was a captivating performance of violin that filled the entire space with music, bringing smiles and delight to everyone present.

Distribution of sanitary napkins and mock cheque to representative of Pusat Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan 

As a gesture of support, Mahallah Sumayyah had distributed sanitary napkins, generously sponsored by Wanita Boleh, in hopes to meet the essential needs of the residents of Baitul Ehsan. In addition, Mahallah Sumayyah also presented a mock cheque of RM500.00 to support the initiatives of the center, further demonstrating commitment to the well-being and comfort of the women. 

The five-hour program at Pusat Perlindungan Wanita Baitul Ehsan came to an end on a bittersweet note as both the residents and committees reflected on the bonds formed during the program. They conveyed contentment at the connections made, yet sorrow at having to say goodbye. The educational visit left a lasting and memorable mark on the hearts of everyone, reinforcing the importance of community and support.***
