GOMBAK, 3 March 2017: Finding a perfect place for internship attachment is never an easy task. Moreover, to apply for an internship at a big company is always a competition. As the number of graduates continues to increase each year, the competition for job too is getting tougher. Having a degree no longer guarantees one to get a job.

In preparing students for the job market, the Office of Industrial Links (OIL) and TalentCorp Malaysia is organising a briefing on MyASEANinternship and MyAPEC Youth Connect on Friday (3 March 2017 ) at Mini Auditorium from 10.00 a.m till 12.30 p.m.

MyASEANinternship and MyAPEC Youth Connect is collaboration between Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) and TalentCorp.

Here are some reasons why you should apply for an internship with them:

1) MyASEANinternship

The MyASEANinternship gives opportunities for Malaysian students to intern in South East Asia and students from other ASEAN countries to intern in Malaysia. The programme showcases the exciting career opportunities available arising out of the ASEAN regional economic integration, particularly with Malaysian companies having regional presence and multinationals with regional headquarters in Malaysia. MyASEAN interns get regional exposure to how businesses operate in the different countries – giving them a head start in their careers.

It will also help interns to develop skill sets required by leading employers through an 8-week internship, participate in ASEAN themes activities and competitions and familiarise with the working culture of top employers in the region before embarking on their career.

2) MyAPEC Youth Connect

MyAPEC Youth Connect is a Pacific Rim work placement to broaden experience, skills and horizons. It is a youth mobility programme that aims to create a network of top talent for Malaysia and APEC economies. Their objective is to create a platform for youths from Malaysia and APEC economies to gain international work experience, mind set and knowledge, provide youths with short term international work assignments at Malaysia and multinational companies with business presence in APEC, and nurture a network of top global talents with skills, knowledge and work experience in APEC economies.

The programme provides short term work placements between 4 to 12 months in Malaysia and APEC economies to encourage skills and technology transfer as well as connectivity among APEC youth. Interns will have the opportunity to work on real projects and interact with top management, gain international work experience which is valued by leading employers and an opportunity to travel abroad and expand cultural horizons.
