This reality emerged during a reverse-mentoring programme involving a group of students from Taylors University and entrepreneurs. In reverse-mentoring, a less experienced or young person guides an older person, and it is a trend that organisations worldwide are embracing. Students from the universitys business programmes were assigned with teaching older entrepreneurs financial literacy skills so that the latter would boost their businesses and achieve their goals. The entrepreneurs, who have no paper qualifications, discovered that learning from youth was not as bad as they had initially feared. Conventional wisdom has it that getting people to change their habits or develop new skills is next to impossible. For example, a 50-something who has been reading a physical newspaper for decades is less likely to switch to the publications online edition.
