The problem is more prevalent among males, but statistics are showing that females are slowly catching up in relative numbers. That it is a dangerous habit is now a generally accepted fact, although swathes of exceptions do occur. Nevertheless, few would dare raise a contrary opinion of the Health Ministrys intention to up the age for those able to buy cigarettes and tobacco products, from the age of majority, 18, to the voting age of 21. As an expert on the matter said, if political choice takes maturity, then so, too, do health choices. When the law is passed, which will include many anti-smoking provisions, teens should find it impossible to access cigarettes.
