{"id":90038,"date":"2015-08-23T12:22:13","date_gmt":"2015-08-23T04:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=90038"},"modified":"2015-08-23T12:22:13","modified_gmt":"2015-08-23T04:22:13","slug":"instrument-of-discipline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=90038","title":{"rendered":"Instrument of discipline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE rising number of road accidents and fatalities has prompted the police to call for a return to the Kejara Demerit Points System (Kejara) which was discontinued five years ago. According to the Road Transport Department (RTD), the agency responsible for Kejara, the system had loopholes. Any effort to revive it, therefore, will require rectifying the problems. But surely the problems cannot be insurmountable, especially in the face of statistics that clearly begs the systems reintroduction. To even entertain the notion that it is too difficult is just not acceptable. It is a pity that the decision was to discontinue Kejara rather than improve it, in the first place.
