If it is, then, Malaysia is a wealthy nation but, obviously, wasteful. According to the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp), Malaysians waste as much as 9,000 tonnes of still consumable food every day of Ramadan, which amounts to the mind-boggling total of 270,000 tonnes for the month. Apparently, this much food can feed as many as 180 million people; a sad indictment of this nations bad habit made more appalling because it is happening in the month when Muslims are supposed to act in moderation.
