TERRORISM is a global menace. It has mired the Middle East in violence and, judging from its influence, there is no guarantee that it will not spill over. In fact, this is the very threat of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, otherwise known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which is running amok in parts of Iraq and Syria, murdering everyone in its path not willing to support it. Whats scary is that it recruits militants from all over the world, including impressionable young Malaysians who are barely in their teens, and lures them into a misguided sense of \u0153jihad\u009d. There have been Malaysian fatalities but more frightening is the Malaysian suicide bomber who blew himself up taking with him some Iraqi policemen. The intention to spread terror beyond the borders of the Middle East and into Malaysia is real and proven by the arrest of 17 suspected militants even as the Prevention of Terrorism Bill was being debated in Parliament.<\/p>\n
