The IIUM Air Force Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) recently emerged as an overall champion in the Air Force ROTU Annual Camp 2015, announced during the closing ceremony held in Gymnasium Hall which was attended by Colonel Mohd Suhaimi bin Hj. Sahri TUDM, Director of \u02dcPasukan Simpanan Tentera Udara (PSTU).<\/p>\n
\u0153A victory cannot be achieved without struggle,\u009d said Captain Norhaslinda binti Yahaya TUDM, IIUM Air Force ROTU Adjutant.\u00c2\u00a0IIUM had won the First Runner Up in \u0153Pertandingan Kawad Kaki\u009d, rising from the 5th<\/sup> place last year. Our one and only female squad leader, PKK (W) Syazlita Nur Izmi binti Tarmizi was entitled as the \u02dcBest Squad Leader and defeated another four male contestants.<\/p>\n Another achievement obtained by our team when the goal of holding three times in a row, as the Champion in \u0153Pertandingan Jalan Laju\u009d becoming real with a new record of one hour and 10 minutes, as the fastest team to reach the finishing line.<\/p>\n Nearly 800 cadets, officers, instructors and staff gathered in Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) as the host university from 17 to 29 January 2015 to commemorate the annual camp of Air Force ROTU here.<\/p>\n Among the public institutions of higher learning that took part were Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP).<\/p>\n Another brighter day to begin \u0153Sports Carnival\u009d on January 20, with a very excited and competitive frame of mind among the other competitors. Again, we had become the champion for winning both categories, \u0153Male Futsal\u009d and \u0153Female Futsal\u009d, in addition to another titles of Second Runner Up in Netball and Volleyball games.<\/p>\n Becoming the Overall Champion with 38 points would not become a reality if our team does not attain triumph in Pertandingan Rentas Halangan\u00c2\u00a0<\/em>as the First Runner Up, as well as becoming the Third Runner Up in Pertandingan Menembak Pistol.<\/em><\/p>\n Instead of having competitions, all the cadets were attending classes according to their level, such as Junior, Intermediate and Senior, before entering the last phase of the camp which is Field Training. This type of training involves establishing a base for Junior, a base defence for Intermediate and survival training for Senior.<\/p>\n For this annual camp, all the cadets were required to finish their five days’ training in Hutan Merang, Terengganu. \u00c2\u00a0\u0153Competitions should not become barriers for all cadets of different universities to lead the spirit of cooperation as one and together breaking through all the obstacles especially during the field training phase in the forest,\u009d said Senior Under Officer, PRK Muhamad Syazwan bin Ahmad.<\/p>\n IIUM Air Force ROTU which won the Overall Champion conveyed its heartfelt appreciation to our Adjutant, Officers, Instructors, and all cadets from Senior, Intermediate and Junior ranks.<\/p>\n Congratulations IIUM Air Force ROTU.
