GOMBAK, 30 September 2014: Last night marked an unforgettable occasion for IIUM Theatre Club for having successfully staged the English Theatre Show 2014 at the main auditorium, International Islamic University Malaysia campus here.<\/p>\n

The theme of the theatre is ‘7 Deadly Sins’ and what is special about this theatre is the fact that it is a collaboration work between five productions to produce five plays in one night. The productions involved are Castaway Production, Allnighter Production, FCPC Production, WAMY Production and last but not least, the crEEPT Production.<\/p>\n

The Director of Centre for International Islamic Culture, also known as CiTRA, Dr. Mahadi J Murat was there too to watch the theatre and gave his support for the students.<\/p>\n

For him, the theatre was a success itself. \u0153I like the first, second and fourth play because conceptually these three plays show their intelligence,\u009d he said.<\/p>\n

Alhough Dr. Mahadi did mention that the other plays were not bad and quite impressive, he also said that this theatre allowed the students to make and do things in a creative and innovative manner by developing greater imagination.<\/p>\n

\u0153Through theatre activity and art appreciation, our thought and mind could be culturally shaped,\u009d he added.<\/p>\n

Besides the Director of CiTRA, among the guests who were in attendance were Assistant Director of CiTRA, Haris Yunnus, Advisor of IIUM Theatre Club, Miss Mei and President of IIUM Theatre Club, Asyraf Badrul Hisham.<\/p>\n

The organiser managed to sell all the tickets and it was full house. The Program Manager for ‘7 Deadly Sins’, Raihan Rosli, a final year student, was really excited and happy for the theatre.<\/p>\n

\u0153I feel relief that everything is over and done successfully. Alhamdulillah. I will definitely come next year to watch the theatre even after graduating,\u009d she said.<\/p>\n

One of the actors, Nik Ammar Fawwaz, a second year political science student, expressed gratitude towards the play. \u0153It was really inspiring and hopefully there will be more plays in the future that will top this night,\u009d said Ammar.<\/p>\n

Theatre is a branch of performing arts. While any performance may be considered a theatre, as a performing art, it focuses almost exclusively on live performers creating a self-contained drama. A performance qualifies as a drama by creating a representational illusion.<\/p>\n
