{"id":27065,"date":"2014-09-19T18:11:30","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T10:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=27065"},"modified":"2014-09-19T22:50:07","modified_gmt":"2014-09-19T14:50:07","slug":"diversity-in-modern-knowledge-promotes-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=27065","title":{"rendered":"Diversity in modern knowledge promotes development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By<\/em> Jahirah Jalal Abidin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>GOMBAK, 17 September 2014: Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today acknowledged the contribution by the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) in promoting diversity in modern knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the diversity in knowledge includes the knowledge in science and engineering which both help to promote the well-being of society.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Human capital is a concept to describe human capability in nature,&#8221; the former Malaysian Prime Minister told a special Commemorative Public Lecture in conjunction with the Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE)&#8217;s 20th anniversary celebration, ENGINIUS XX. The lecture given was entitled &#8220;Transforming Science and Engineering in the Muslim World.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tun Abdullah said the OIC has a number of qualified research programmes to foster innovation and to promote technology development.\u00c2\u00a0The emergence of scientific development has seen Malaysia transformed into a competitive nation.<\/p>\n<p>He also praised the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) for efforts made in the Islamisation of knowledge. This constituted the core of IIUMs vision and mission. The purpose was to analyse the experience of Islamisation of knowledge at the university.
