{"id":187175,"date":"2026-04-02T08:12:27","date_gmt":"2026-04-02T08:12:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=187175"},"modified":"2026-04-02T08:12:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T08:12:29","slug":"iium-joins-nation-in-cancelling-aidilfitri-open-houses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=187175","title":{"rendered":"IIUM Joins Nation in Cancelling Aidilfitri Open Houses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By, Shafiy Nordin<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOMBAK, 28 March 2025: The International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has officially cancelled  all Aidilfitri open house events across the University following a recent announcement by the Prime Minister, Dato&#8217; Seri Anwar Ibrahim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Datuk Dr. Osman Bakar emphasised that the University fully supports the Government\u2019s decision, which reflects broader national considerations and calls for collective responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a national and global institution that upholds values of discipline, responsibility, and respect for leadership and public policy, the International Islamic University Malaysia fully supports this decision,\u201d said the Rector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thus, all members of the IIUM community are required to cancel any Aidilfitri open houses that may have been planned at any level within the University. This applies to all kulliyyahs, centres, departments, institutes, offices, and mahallahs, which are required to strictly adhere to the instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rector reminded the IIUM community that while Aidilfitri is a time of togetherness, gratitude, and forgiveness, it also emphasises discipline, humility, and solidarity. He expressed trust and confidence that staff and students would demonstrate cooperation and understanding in respecting this national directive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On behalf of the University, Prof. Osman also extended festive greetings: \u201c<em>Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri,<\/em> <em>Maaf Zahir dan Batin<\/em>.
