SHAH ALAM, 10 January 2026: Fourth-year Communication students from COMM 4995 successfully organised Commventure 2026, the second outdoor programme since 2018, held at the National Botanic Gardens, Shah Alam, from 7.00 a.m. to 4.15 p.m.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the event\u2019s key strengths was the collaboration between various internal stakeholders, including the Communication Students Association (COSA), the Botanic Gardens management, and Hussin Fauzi Animal Farm, which created a meaningful partnership that contributed to the event’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Honestly, it feels more like a sense of trust and responsibility. With only 14 people in the team, being able to organise an off-campus programme after such a long time is very meaningful for us. It shows that the lecturers trust us to represent IIUM, especially the Communication Department, beyond the campus. I believe that our passion and continuous effort are the key to unlocking our potential,” said the Assistant Program Manager of Commventure 2026, Sri Suhada Binti Hamidi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A unique highlight of Commventure was its signature concept, \u201cDecode the Hidden Star\u201d<\/strong>, where participants worked in teams to search for stars at four different checkpoints. After collecting all the stars, they were then tasked with uncovering and promoting a selected animal, a raccoon from the animal farm. Through this activity, the programme symbolised how storytelling and media communication can shape public interest and raise awareness, reflecting the power of communication in society.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite being organised by only 14 committee members, the event successfully delivered a full-day programme filled with interactive missions, clue-solving tasks, and outdoor adventures such as Name-tag elimination, kayaking, and flying fox. The activities served not only as an educational experience, but also as an opportunity for students to refresh and recharge ahead of the final weeks of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Manager of Commventure 2026, <\/strong>Ismaeel Hazeeq, also shared that organising the programme came with several challenges, especially as the team initially struggled to understand each other\u2019s strengths.<\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At the beginning, we did not know each other well and it was hard to build trust. We even had to restructure our team twice because we were still discovering each other\u2019s specific skills. Financially, it was also challenging because we are a small team and not all agencies were interested in sponsoring us. At the start, we even used our own money just to keep the programme going,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reflecting on the overall event, he added, \u201cAlhamdulillah, the event went well and all of the committees showed great commitment. Of course, there were minor mistakes and things we missed, but as a leader, I learned that I need to ensure my team is better prepared and to do more strategic planning before the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organisers also expressed sincere appreciation to the programme\u2019s sponsor, Moittry Infinity Sdn. Bhd., for their generous support and contribution in making Commventure Botani 2026 possible.<\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/gwmw><\/p>\n\n\n\n
