It\u2019s a sign of greatness from Allah and today, we realise that every step, every doubt, every detour was leading us exactly to where we are meant to be,\u201d said Norhashimah Mohamad Haida, the recipient of the Best Student (Master) Award for the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a inspiring address, Norhashimah captured the audience\u2019s attention as she recounted her academic journey that began nine years ago in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her speech, Norhashimah recounted her days as a microbiology undergraduate, raising a three-month-old baby in the cold and wrestling with the dilemma of choosing between her children and her academic dreams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI had faith that one day, I would have the chance to graduate again,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd today, I stand here as the recipient of the Best Student Award\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her speech, Norhasimah highlighted the holistic education and ethical grounding she received, attributing much of it to the pivotal guidance of her outstanding lecturers.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-186221\" style=\"width:469px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-1536x1024.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/IMG_0176-2048x1365.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Norhashimah delivering her valedictorian speech<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>To her, IIUM represents the worldview she gained through her interactions with its lecturers. \u201cI often rushed from my office to class from 6 to 9 pm, yet every interaction with my lecturers left a lasting impression\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She further elaborated that the lecturers\u2019 ethics and integrity in connecting lessons with God-conscious principles contribute to IIUM\u2019s <em>ummatic <\/em>excellence, as the university does not only impart knowledge, but also instils the reason why and for whom we think, which encourages students to be the source of inspiration to the <em>ummah<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Norhashimah expressed deep gratitude to her husband, family, parents, and lecturers, whose constant support enabled her to manage both work and study.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"731\" height=\"731\" src=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-1-edited.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-186295\" style=\"width:434px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-1-edited.png 731w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-1-edited-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-1-edited-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Norhashimah with her husband.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The valedictorian urged graduates to take pride in their IIUM identity and to inspire the ummah through their knowledge and actions, wherever they may be.***<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By, Farah Aishah Binti Rosli GOMBAK, 7 December 2025:\u00a0 \u201cLife always falls in the ways we never expected.
