The Monday evening of 16 June 2025 began with a drizzle, but as the sun dipped beyond the skyline, the rain cleared, leaving a cool, refreshing atmosphere for the much-awaited Fun Run 2025. The 5km route stretched alongside the scenic TasikTitiwangsa, offering runners a balance of nature, wellness, and city vibrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held in conjunction with the 19th CONSAL General Conference & Meeting (CONSAL XIX) from 16 to 19 June 2025 at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur, the run\u00a0embodied the spirit of\u00a0the conference theme:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInclusive Knowledge: Bridging Divides, Empowering All,\u201d with the tagline, \u201cLeveraging Inclusivity, Empowering Humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was\u00a0organised\u00a0by\u00a0Persatuan\u00a0Pustakawan\u00a0Malaysia and\u00a0Persatuan\u00a0Kebun Bandar Sungai\u00a0Bunus,\u00a0with\u00a0the support of strategic partners Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) via Local Action 21 KL, Basic Tees New, Excel Envirotech Resources\u00a0Sdn\u00a0Bhd, Fit Zone Gym, and Columbia Asia Hospital.\u00a0It\u00a0drew\u00a0a diverse crowd of\u00a0over 100 participants, including\u00a0CONSAL delegates, librarians, students,\u00a0local residents\u00a0and members of the\u00a0Kebun Bandar Sg\u00a0Bunus\u00a0(KBSB)\u00a0community. The\u00a0evening kicked off with a lively\u00a0senamrobik\u00a0session and the\u00a0run was officially flagged off at 5.30 PM by Mrs.\u00a0Hasliza\u00a0Binti Abdul Hamid,\u00a0Timbalan\u00a0Pengarah\u00a0Kanan,\u00a0Jabatan Pembangunan\u00a0Komuniti\u00a0dan\u00a0Kesejahteraan\u00a0Bandar DBKL, representing the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur. Her attendance highlighted DBKL\u2019s strong support for civic health, green innovation, and people-powered urban transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Chairperson of Persatuan Kebun Bandar Sungai Bunus, the author shared heartfelt pride in KBSB\u2019s role as host. To have KBSB featured on an international platform like CONSAL is a proud moment. This green pocket in the heart of Kuala Lumpur is more than just a community space, it represents collective ownership, where government bodies, NGOs, universities, societies and local communities come together in their shared, long-term commitment to urban sustainability and inclusive outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KBSB\u00a0now proudly includes\u00a0ten stakeholders,\u00a0among them theInternational Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), whose involvement in the KBSB initiative reflects a long-standing commitment to urban sustainability, community outreach, and knowledge transfer.\u00a0Other stakeholders include Chef liza\u00a0Sekebun\u00a0Cinta,\u00a0Persatuan\u00a0Pustakawan\u00a0Malaysia, BERNAMA,\u00a0Koperasi\u00a0Seri Perlis2,\u00a0Universiti\u00a0Tenologi\u00a0Malaysia and Malaysia Board on Books for Young People, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the event\u2019s heartwarming highlights was the special performance of \u201cRebana Terapi Muzik\u201d led by none other than Granny a.k.a Normah Nordin. Adding to the festive atmosphere, members of KBSB set up stalls offering hot coffee, freshly harvested vegetables, homemade food pastes, and signature kelulut honey. A showcase of local sustainability in action and community entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun Run @ KBSB 2025 was more than a race, it was a celebration of how communities, institutions, and knowledge can move forward together.***<\/p>\n\n\n\n
