GOMBAK, 29 May 2025: The Gombak Food Festival returns with a second chapter on a bigger appetite, bringing together the rich world of culinary traditions and the energy of student entrepreneurship. Taking place on 3 and 4 June 2025 at Riverside of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Gombak campus. The event will offer a vibrant platform for integrated marketing communication (IMC) students to showcase their creativity, business ideas and community spirit through IMC campaigns of the food produced by their clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s event showcases 12 student-run booths, each representing unique brands and social\u00a0causes.\u00a0The clients include\u00a0K-Link\u00a0Care\u00a0Center,\u00a0Autism\u00a0Cafe\u00a0Project,\u00a0Dyslexia\u00a0Cafe, ARISMA, Tuns Anuar, My Qt Bites, Kak Ina Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah, Mat Murtabak, PPDK Gombak Setia, Sandwich Awesome Cafe, Brew and Blossom Cafe, and Tee\u2019ha licious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encouraging Young Entrepreneurs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\u00a0the\u00a0afternoon of 3 June,\u00a0the\u00a0festival\u00a0features\u00a0an\u00a0Entrepreneur\u00a0Speed\u00a0Pitch,\u00a0where\u00a0selected\u00a0student entrepreneurs will present their business concepts. The most outstanding booths will be recognized during the Entrepreneur’s Choice Award session. These activities allow participants to gain valuable feedback and recognition from peers and professional alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first day will close with a special virtual forum, “Self-Regulation in Marketing Communications in the Age of AI,” comprising a knowledgeable and experienced panelist: President of the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA), Claudian Navin Stanislaus; Data Privacy Expert, Dr. Nor Adlin Hanisah Shahul Ikram; and IIUM’s very own IMC academic from the Department of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aida Mokhtar. This session will broaden the learning experience and gives students exposure to global business perspective and integrated marketing communication (IMC) strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first day of\u00a0the\u00a0Gombak Food\u00a0Festival\u00a02.0\u00a0will\u00a0set\u00a0a\u00a0high\u00a0standard\u00a0of what\u00a0promises\u00a0to\u00a0be an inspiring two-day celebration of IMC, entrepreneurship, inclusion and innovation. With its focus\u00a0on\u00a0community\u00a0impact\u00a0and\u00a0cross-cultural\u00a0learning,\u00a0this\u00a0festival\u00a0proves\u00a0that\u00a0food\u00a0can indeed bring people together for a greater purpose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Values and Vision on Day Two<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second day of the much-anticipated Gombak Food Festival 2.0\u00a0will be on Wednesday,\u00a04 June that starts with a warm opening and welcoming speech, followed by participant registration, the crowd will warm up with a fun and enlightening \u201cSesi Suai Kenal\u201d (Getting to Know\u00a0Session).\u00a0Spirits\u00a0will be high\u00a0as\u00a0participants will settle in\u00a0for\u00a0an\u00a0engaging\u00a0ice-breaking\u00a0session that features fun facts about Islam and food and a lively sharing of Sunnah practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0assembly will be followed by educational\u00a0and fun activities, including the\u00a0\u201cMystery Food Box Challenge\u201d and the \u201cWhisper Food Game.\u201d These activities aim to create meaningful connections\u00a0between\u00a0food,\u00a0faith\u00a0and\u00a0fun. The\u00a0festival\u00a0will also bring\u00a0together\u00a0culture,\u00a0cuisine, and truly capture the spirit of halal entrepreneurship and Islamic lifestyle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Celebratory Close<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0festival\u00a0will wrap up\u00a0with\u00a0personal\u00a0reflections\u00a0from\u00a0IMC\u00a0students\u00a0and\u00a0a memorable closing speech by the programme manager. Smiles will surely fill the air as\u00a0the\u00a0crowd\u00a0poses for\u00a0a\u00a0final\u00a0group\u00a0photo\u00a0session\u00a0to\u00a0mark\u00a0the\u00a0closing of the\u00a0two-day event. The celebration is not just about food but about nurturing leadership and innovation through real-world experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than Just Food<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gombak Food Festival 2.0 will be more than just a culinary celebration which is a platform\u00a0to\u00a0nurture\u00a0leadership,\u00a0innovation,\u00a0and\u00a0community\u00a0engagement.\u00a0With\u00a0a\u00a0strong\u00a0focus on real\u00a0world experiences, ethical\u00a0values, and cross-cultural learning, the\u00a0festival\u00a0proves that food has the power to bring people together for a greater purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spotlight on Mat Murtabak<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the most anticipated booths is Mat Murtabak, led by final year student, Farhana Balqis and her fellow team members. This initiative is part of a class project for the IMC course that reflects\u00a0the\u00a0innovative\u00a0spirit\u00a0of\u00a0IIUM students who turn passion into action through a creative IMC campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted to try something practical and challenging,\u201d said Farhana during an interview. \u201cEveryone loves murtabak, so we thought it would be the perfect product to attract visitors. Each of us contributes to the campaign based on our own skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
