{"id":183922,"date":"2025-05-27T21:51:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T21:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=183922"},"modified":"2025-05-27T21:51:35","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T21:51:35","slug":"nur-aisyah-syahirah-crowned-champion-of-malaysias-24th-chinese-bridge-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.iium.edu.my\/?p=183922","title":{"rendered":"Nur Aisyah Syahirah is Champion of Malaysia\u2019s 24th \u201cChinese Bridge\u201d Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By, Nur Farrah Atiqah Amran <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nur Aisyah\u00a0Syahirah\u00a0Anuar, a second-year\u00a0Bachelor of Arts in\u00a0English for International Communication student from IIUM Pagoh, emerged as the champion of the\u00a024th &#8220;Chinese Bridge&#8221; Chinese Proficiency Competition for\u00a0University Students.\u00a0The national-level event was held on 18 May at the Research Management &amp; Innovation Complex (KPPI), University of Malaya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aisyah outshone 24 participants from 11 universities across Malaysia in the highly competitive event, which was hosted by the Embassy of the People\u2019s Republic of China in Malaysia and organised by the Kong Zi Institute\u00a0of University of Malaya.\u00a0Also representing IIUM Pagoh was Muhammad\u00a0Zulfahmi Suhaimi, a third-year Bachelor of Arts in Malay for International Communication student, who secured an impressive fourth place, further highlighting the university\u2019s strong presence and performance in the prestigious competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the national champion, Aisyah will go on to represent Malaysia in the global finals in China, continuing to pursue her Chinese dream while proudly showcasing the talent, grace, and cultural openness of Malaysian youth on the international stage.\u00a0This year\u2019s competition carried the theme, \u201cOne World, One Family\u201d and comprised four segments: a quiz on Chinese culture, prepared speech, talent performance, and impromptu speech. Contestants impressed the judges with their linguistic abilities, cultural insight, and stage presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout the competition, participants shared heartfelt accounts of their journeys in learning Chinese, memorable cultural exchanges in China, and how mastering the language enabled them to cross cultural and linguistic boundaries. Speeches\u00a0centered\u00a0on themes, \u201cChinese Brings the World Closer\u201d and \u201cCrossing Cultural Bridges,\u201d reflecting a deep appreciation of Chinese culture and a spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect among the youth of today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aisyah&#8217;s achievement is a proud moment for IIUM Pagoh and a testament to the university\u2019s commitment to nurturing\u00a0globally minded, multilingual graduates.
